The Cainian Chronicle is the second studio album by Norwegian black metal band Ancient, released on June 18, 1996. The album is 66 minutes and 6 seconds long and is based on the story of Cain from the Book of Nod in the game Vampire: The Masquerade. The album is divided into three parts, each corresponding to a part of the Book of Nod. The first part tells the story of Cain's exile and his relationship with the demon Lilith, while the rest of the album is based on traditional paganism. The album features 11 tracks, including 'At the Infernal Portal' which contains lines from Dante's Divine Comedy.
